Creation of the Expert Council on Chemical Logistics

Chemical Logistics Expert Council and CLSSA Assessment System

In 2022, EAASS initiated the creation of the Chemical Logistics Expert Council, which united representatives of Eurasian chemical enterprises. The main task of the Council was to define the concept of development and implementation of the Chemical Logistics Sustainability and Security Assessment System (CLSSA) in the Eurasian region. This system is based on the SQAS (CEFIC) safety quality assessment standards.

What is CLSSA?

CLSSA is a powerful tool for assessing the safety, quality, health, environment and corporate social responsibility management systems of logistics service providers and distributors. Using a standardized questionnaire, CLSSA avoids multiple assessments by different chemical companies. This significantly simplifies the process of selecting reliable logistics service providers and helps in identifying actions to improve interaction with them.

Benefits of CLSSA

The CLSSA assessment, conducted by independent experts, results in a detailed report that every chemical company can use to verify compliance with its requirements. One assessment replaces many traditional audits, saving time and resources for both logistics providers and chemical companies. Importantly, this does not exclude the possibility of dialogue between partners, but rather promotes it.

The Value of CLSSA for Chemical Companies

The CLSSA system helps chemical manufacturers in selecting reliable logistics providers and in identifying specific steps to improve their interactions with them. Although the use of a standardized questionnaire does not guarantee full compliance with all safety and quality requirements, CLSSA offers a mechanism for objective assessment and finding opportunities for continuous improvement.

After the assessment, companies receive valuable information about their strengths and weaknesses, which contributes to the development of partnerships and mutual benefit. CLSSA is a step towards safer and more sustainable chemical logistics in the Eurasian region.
